This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong waste professional to take ownership of waste compliance across a national depot network, supporting operational teams while ensuring statutory duties, permit conditions and environmental standards are met.

The Role

As Waste Management Compliance Advisor, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a waste and environmental management system, monitoring the full lifecycle of liquid waste from collection through to final disposal.

You will provide formal assurance that tanker services, depot treatment activities and related operational processes comply with statutory duties, reduce risk and support environmental targets.

Main duties will include:

  • Translating regulatory requirements into clear, practical internal standards for operational teams
  • Developing and delivering an audit and checking programme covering GAP collection, transport, storage, treatment, disposal and contractor activities
  • Auditing waste documentation, including transfer notes, consignment notes, site records and statutory returns
  • Undertaking depot and operational audits to ensure activities comply with permits, consents, licences, exemptions and local operating controls
  • Verifying waste acceptance procedures, waste stream categorisation, on-site analysis and record-keeping
  • Monitoring quantities and types of waste accepted, treated and disposed of across the depot network
  • Supporting depots with compliant operational improvements, pollution prevention and resource efficiency
  • Overseeing environmental authorisations including permits, licences, consents, registrations, notifications and exemptions
  • Acting as a key point of contact for regulators during inspections, audits, enquiries and enforcement activity
  • Supporting incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective action tracking
  • Promoting a proactive compliance culture across operational teams
  • Advising senior management on new legislation, compliance trends and opportunities for cost savings through improved treatment and waste minimisation
  • Delivering scheduled and ad-hoc compliance training and auditing depot training records

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • WAMITAB Level 4 Competency Award – Competence for Storage and Transfer of Hazardous Waste

  • Experience auditing waste operations, contractors, documentation and compliance systems
  • Understanding of waste transfer notes, hazardous waste consignment notes, duty of care and statutory reporting
  • Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability
  • Ability to interpret legislation and translate it into practical operational procedures
  • Confident working with regulators, depot teams, senior management, customers and suppliers
